INSTITUT NATIONAL DE RECHERCHE EN GÉNIE RURAL, EAUX ET FORĔTS (INRGREF) is a Tunisian public multidisciplinary research institution, created in 1996, which contributes to the national research policy in the field of forest, water, and soil management. INRGREF is also responsible for the organization and implementation of research activities in these fields and contributes to the training of MS and PhD students in the scope of the Institute’s programs. It is constituted of four research laboratories focusing on rural engineering, non-conventional water use in agriculture, forest resources management and forest ecology. It has seven experimental stations supporting field research activities in different ecological regions of Tunisia. As part of its research program, the Institute is supervising 66 PhD projects and 30 Master degree, offers internships, seminars and professional training, and hosts annual workshops and conferences. INRGREF is financially autonomous under the aegis of the Tunisian Institution of Agricultural Research and Higher Education (IRESA) and has a permanent staff of 77 researchers, 66 technicians, 17 administrative staff and 109 workers. INRGREF collaborates with more than 50 national and international organizations in the MENA region, Europe, Asia and the United States. INRGREF has participated in several and relevant EU and International collaboration research projects as mentioned in the project list. These projects cover several sectors and areas: promotion of adaptation to climate change; management of Mediterranean forests; innovation in non-timber forest products valorization; sustainable development, innovative land and water management, forest policy and economics etc.
Role in the project: INRGREF will be involved in WP1, WP2, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7 and WP8 in a supportive role, and it will be leader of WP3.
